If you live on a small, isolated island, you have to be self-sufficient. This
means producing not only your own food, housing and clothing, but all the
furnishings of life. If your small isolated island has a limited number of
usable materials, you also become expert at using these materials in many ways.
Until recently, people of Duff Islands made virtually everything they needed
for daily life. They still manufacture most of their own containers, building
materials, etc. As plastic and other imported goods replace traditional
hand-made ones, skills of weaving, cord-making, carving, etc., could easily
die out. In order to help keep the Taumako tradition of fine craftwork alive
we are offering some hand-made items for sale. If you want to order any of the
products listed below, please refer to them by the catalog code in parenthesis
(for example: KETE 1). All prices are in $U.S. and include
shipping to the United States and Canada. For shipping prices to other
places, please contact us directly.
